The Dover Pals have recently returned from bowling in the USBC Open in Reno, Thurs & Friday, Jun 28--29, 2007.
This was a first ever for me and despite not bowling "worth a damn" in the team event, I still had a great time.
Our week started out by getting evaucated from S. Lake Tahoe due to the forest fire within five miles of our hotel.
So we went to Reno sooner than expected.
For the team event it was checkin 2 hours prior. Every ball was checked to assure compliance within USBC standards. Then came team picture time. If Bill had gotten some sleep prior, he would have looked alive in the picture. Then everyone must sit according to your lane assignments. And wait!!!! The tournament rules were read to everyone at the same time. Then they recognized individuals at the nationals for 25 years or more. They also recognized honor scores shot at previous events.
Next came the parade, where everyone marched to the lanes. The National Anthem was played as well as that of any other country that was represented by a team during this squad. Bowling was next. I shot a "515" and was very "HAPPY!!!!"
The following day was Doubles and Single, but no march to the lanes. I had a 578 for doubles, again not "BAD"
New Mexico here we come next year!!!
